Austria is in the euro area, so Austrian payment service providers fall under the first Instant Payments Regulation deadline. From 9 October 2025 they must offer Verification of Payee, free of charge, on euro credit transfers initiated electronically by the payer.
Rolling out across a banking group
Austrian banking is characterised by large multi-tier networks such as Raiffeisen and the savings-bank sector, where many local institutions share central infrastructure. Verification of Payee is best rolled out once at the group level so every member bank offers a consistent, compliant check.
Build once, serve the whole group
A shared VoP connection at the central-institution level lets every affiliated bank meet the obligation without each one running a separate integration project.
What Austrian PSPs need to deliver
- Join the EPC Verification of Payee scheme as requesting and/or responding PSP.
- Provide a clear result before the payer authorises the transfer.
- Apply a consistent check across all member institutions of a group.
- Keep it free, fast and auditable.
Supervision and the fastest route
The Financial Market Authority (FMA), together with the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), supervises Austrian banks and payment institutions. A provider already live on the SEPA scheme lets a banking group offer VoP across all members from one integration. RoxPay delivers VoP via a single API and dashboard suited to group rollouts.
